Transition to a Soaring Eagle

Wassup NCCU!!! I'm Rachel, a freshman at NCCU, majoring in athletic training. I'm originally from Columbia, MD so moving here was a BIG change. None of my friends from home came with me so I was thrown into an unknown pool of fish. I had heard of southern hospitality but didn't know much about it. As it turns out it's no joke! People up north are nowhere as kind as people here. I quickly made friends and adjusted great! Move in day was nerve-wracking knowing I would have FOUR other roommates, but thankfully we all get along just fine. Thank God I wasn't one of those freshmen walking around lost on the first day of classes; I was lucky enough to be given a tour of the campus by a friend. Don't get it twisted, this campus might not be huge but all the hills and steps are a good enough work out! Walking up those "Jesus steps" at 7:30 in the morning could be a workout used to counteract "freshman 15!" Once you factor in the heat, I honestly believe I have lost weight since I have been on campus. I'm not used to this heat, not one bit. But everything here is just great, all my professors are cool, except the fact they don't allow cell-phones in class! And of course NCCU parties are on point!!! They get hot, literally, but it's not hard to get used to and soaked up into the atmosphere! College life is great! I'm so glad I chose NCCU!

Eagle Pride Amplified!
